Located in 68 metres of water, the Eldfisk reservoir lies about 16 kilometres south of the Ekofisk Complex. Five platforms are located on the field – 2/7 A, 2/7 B, 2/7 FTP, 2/7 E and 2/7 S.
The Embla 2/7 D facility is tied back to 2/7 S by a flowline, and the combined output from the two fields is piped away – originally to Ekofisk 2/4 R, and then from 1998 to Ekofisk 2/4 J.
Eldfisk 2/7 B produces from 19 wells, with oil separated and stabilised while gas is dehydrated and compressed. Its lowest deck is 18 metres above sea level and its highest point is 87 metres up.
NAPM at Vlissingen in the Netherlands built the 2/7 A jacket (support structure), while the module support frame (MSF) came from Weldit.
A new accommodation module was installed in 1983 with the aid of the Balder crane barge. Weighing 900 tonnes, this unit’s cabins were en suite and had a radio with music. Other facilities included a cinema, gym, cafe and reading room, and pool room. A new Safedeck helideck was also installed.
A new control room installed in the accommodation module as part of the Eldfisk II project became the main control room on the platform in 2013.
