Ekofisk 2/4 C
This production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform is linked by a bridge to Ekofisk 2/4 X. Installed in 1972, it stands in 70 metres of water.
Jacket piling was completed as early as December 1972, but delays with the topside modules – and their long voyage across the Atlantic – meant it was July 1973 before the DB 22 structure could be lifted into place.
The compressors for returning gas to the reservoir were not in place until 16-17 August, and were still being hooked up when the derrick became operational on 2 October. Production began in 1974.
Nine of the platform’s 12 wells are used for gas injection, while the other three produce oil, gas and condensate to be piped via bridges to Ekofisk 2/4 J for separation and processing.
