Pilot project for waterflooding

The first water was injected into well B-16 on Ekofisk 2/4 B at 03.45 on 10 April 1981. That marked the start of the waterflooding project on this field.

Beginning at 5 800 barrels of seawater, the daily injection rate was increased to a maximum of 40 000 barrels. The pilot aimed to determine how much water the reservoir formations could take, and how flooding would affect their ability to produce.[REMOVE]Fotnote: News Brief, May 1981.
